How Do You Control Product Size and Moisture?

We control product size and moisture through raw material grading, defined product specifications, in-process inspections and final batch checks.

The acceptable size range and moisture target are agreed with the customer before commercial production.

How Is Product Size Controlled?

Size control normally includes:

Raw material selection
Raw materials are inspected and sorted before production. Products such as rabbit ears, whole fish and natural fish skin may be graded by length, weight or visual size.

Cutting or forming controls
Cut, rolled, twisted and freeze-dried products are processed according to the approved dimensions or weight range.

In-process inspection
Samples are checked during production to identify pieces outside the agreed specification.

Final grading
Products may be sorted again before packing to improve consistency within each carton or retail pack.

Batch inspection
Finished products are checked against the approved product specification before release.

Can Natural Products Be Completely Uniform?

Natural products cannot always have exactly identical dimensions.

Rabbit ears, whole fish and fish skins naturally vary according to the original raw material. For these products, we normally agree on a practical size or weight range rather than one exact measurement.

Cut, formed and freeze-dried products generally allow tighter dimensional control.

The achievable tolerance is reviewed and confirmed during sampling and specification approval.

How Is Moisture Controlled?

Moisture control normally includes:

Defined drying or freeze-drying parameters

Product checks during processing

Representative batch sampling

Moisture measurement before packing

Additional drying when required

Final inspection before batch release

Packaging selected to help protect the finished product during storage and transport

The target moisture level depends on the product type, texture requirement, shelf-life objective and customer specification.

Why Is Moisture Important?

Correct moisture control helps support:

Product texture and chewing characteristics

Shelf-life stability

Consistency between production batches

Reduced risk of spoilage

Packaging performance

Product acceptance at destination

A moisture target that is too high may affect stability, while excessive drying may cause brittleness, increased breakage or unnecessary weight loss. The appropriate range therefore needs to be established for each product.

What Records Can Be Provided?

Depending on the product and agreed order requirements, available information may include:

Approved product specification

Size or weight tolerance

Target moisture range

Batch identification

Inspection records

Test results or a Certificate of Analysis, when agreed

Documentation availability should be confirmed before placing the order.

How Can Buyers Set Their Required Specification?

Please provide:

Product name

Preferred length, width or weight

Acceptable tolerance

Required texture

Target moisture, if specified

Packaging format

Reference sample or photographs

Destination market

We will review whether the requested specification is technically achievable and confirm the proposed control method before sample approval and bulk production.
